Three offers 5G at no extra cost. It comes as standard on the network’s plans, so the only thing you need to worry about is making sure you buy a tablet that supports 5G.
Aside from everything else, 5G is of course far faster than 4G. That means you can download and upload things faster, and stream content in higher quality. It also offers lower latency, which can help make online games feel silky smooth.
So whether you want to stream Netflix in the highest quality without buffering, download 4K films and big games, or play competitively online, 5G is a serious upgrade on 4G, and makes all of that – and more – far more viable.
There’s plenty more to 5G though, so for a deeper look into the benefits, check out our what is 5G guide.
There are a lot of advantages to being on Three. For one thing, third-party tests suggest that Three’s 5G speeds are typically higher than rivals. But beyond 5G, the network also stands out through offering competitively priced plans – including some with unlimited data.
Plus, you can tether at no extra cost, and you can access the Three+ app, which is packed full of discounts and offers from other brands.
Select Three plans also come with inclusive roaming and Paramount Plus subscriptions.
At the time of writing, the cheapest 5G tablet that you can get on Three is the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+. This is a mid-range tablet with an 11-inch screen.

Models from the iPad Pro 11 2021, iPad Pro 12.9 2021, iPad Air 2022 and iPad Mini 2021 onwards all support 5G. That includes recent models like the iPad Pro 11-inch 2024, the iPad Pro 13-inch 2024, the iPad Air 11-inch 2024, the iPad Air 13-inch 2024, and the iPad 10.9.
The first thing to consider is what you actually want from your tablet – other than 5G, and that starts with where and how you plan to use it.
Presumably, if you’re after 5G then you plan to take it out of your home. In which case a small or light tablet could be beneficial, so you can easily carry it around. But then again, a bigger screen can be better for enjoying content on.
Things like battery life and power are important considerations too, and you should weigh all that up against the price you want to pay.
As for the actual plan, the main thing to decide is how much data you want. If you plan to use 5G heavily then a high data allowance or even unlimited data would be a good idea, but if you expect to mostly make use of Wi-Fi then you might get by with a lower allowance.
