Overview

The iPhone 16 is a big upgrade for Apple’s base iPhone, and it comes with two new buttons. The first of these is known as a ‘Camera Control’, and it lets you take photos, record videos, zoom the camera, and edit camera settings, all through pressing or swiping the key.

The second button isn’t quite as new because it was already found on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, but this year it has come to all four new models. We’re talking of course about the Action button, which you can customise to use as a shortcut to an app or function of your choice.

The iPhone 16 also has a powerful new A18 chipset, designed to power AI tasks, and with up to 22 hours of battery life it’s longer lasting than the iPhone 15.

Elsewhere, the iPhone 16 has a 6.1-inch always-on OLED display, a Dynamic Island, and a dual-lens camera, with a 48MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide, and a 12MP front-facing camera.

There’s support for Apple Intelligence too (once this suite of AI features rolls out), plus Face ID, 5G, water resistance, and fast 25W wireless charging.

The iPhone 16 also looks the part, with an aluminium frame, a glass back (in a selection of vibrant colours), and tough Ceramic Shield protection on the screen. And with up to 512GB of storage built in, you needn’t ever run short on space.
