If you want a high-end handset on a budget the Honor brand has for a while been a good start, and the Honor 7X is an impressive new entry in the range that’s out now on Three from just £16 per month with £29 upfront.
For your money you get a phone that really does look like a flagship, thanks to a huge 5.93-inch screen with almost no bezel around it. It’s also got a trendy super-widescreen 18:9 aspect ratio, similar to phones like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6.
It’s a sharp screen too, at 1080 x 2160, giving it a pixel density of 407 pixels per inch. All of which helps make it immersive for media.
The almost complete lack of bezels coupled with a slim 7.6mm thick metal build also makes the Honor 7X a real looker with premium appeal.
A dual-lens camera has been packed into the back of the phone, giving you a 16MP main lens and a 2MP secondary sensor designed for depth sensing, so you can adjust the depth of field in your photos. Plus, there’s a capable 8MP camera around the front complete with gesture controls, so you can take photos without touching the phone.
Power-wise you’re looking at an octa-core chipset clocked at up to 2.36GHz and coupled with 4GB of RAM, for upper mid-range performance. And there’s a 3,340mAh battery, which should be good for a day of moderately heavy use.
The Honor 7X also has a fingerprint scanner, and while it lacks certain bells and whistles like waterproofing and NFC you’d likely have to pay a whole lot more to get a phone this good with those on top.
